Dissertation, University of Nebraska. Lincoln, Nebraska: June A mixed method design provides both qualitative and statistical understanding of this phenomenon. The study suggests that strategically controlled environments, by creating product uncertainty, are able to motivate behaviors such as urgency to buy. It is further suggested that urgency to buy is mediated by emotions like anticipated regret that these retailers are able to successfully generate in the mind of the consumer. The results suggest that consumers high on these traits are more likely to exhibit competitive and deviant behaviors like in—store hoarding and in—store hiding.

Kelsey Anne Anderson. This thesis sought to explore the perceptions and experiences of Andean women regarding water quality, water scarcity, and health among two communities in Carhuaz province of Ancash, Peru. An additional two unstructured interviews were conducted with a local water authority and doctor in order gain another perspective on the issues of water security and health. The findings suggest there is concern among women in both communities on water scarcity and water quality.
Because water is essential for life, when it is scarce, it may be one of the most important drivers of animal behavior. Despite its clear importance, water is relatively poorly studied in terms of its impact on primate behavior, and previous research has been limited to observational studies. This dissertation takes a combined experimental and observational approach to study behavior related to water acquisition in captive and wild lemurs.
Doctoral thesis Ph. This thesis addresses a fundamental lack of critical research investigating the meaning and practical application of widely used water scarcity metrics that include the Falkenmark Water Stress Index WSI and the Water Withdrawal to Availability WTA ratio. Recognising that current indicators do not account for the significant inter- and intra-annual variability in freshwater resources, this research proposes a new methodology to characterise water scarcity that explicitly considers the contribution of water storage to freshwater availability.
