Organizational theory consists of many approaches to organizational analysis. Organizations are defined as social units comprising people who are managed in such a way as to enable them to meet organizational needs, pursue collective goals, and adapt to a changing organizational environment. In the early 20th century, theories of organizations initially took a rational perspective but have since become more diverse. In a rational organization system, there are two significant parts: Specificity of Goals and Formalization. The division of labor is the specialization of individual labor roles, associated with increasing output and trade. Modernization theorist Frank Dobbin states that "modern institutions are transparently purposive and that we are in the midst of an evolutionary progression towards more efficient forms. The contingency theory holds that an organization must try to maximize performance by minimizing the effects of varying environmental and internal constraints.

Technology is constantly becoming smarter and more powerful. This is because the technology has increased complexities and cognitive overhead to the developer, reducing their effectiveness. In this article, the first of a series, I introduce a framework for maximizing developer effectiveness. Through research I have identified key developer feedback loops, including micro-feedback loops that developers do times a day. These should be optimized so they are quick, simple and impactful for developers.
Before we look at individual Cases, it is important to begin by looking at analysis frameworks that commonly can be used to address Case Study questions. In this chapter, we will outline some of the core frameworks and some additional Consulting concepts that are important to grasp and will form part of many interviews. The frameworks will be helpful to answer certain types of cases, depending on the type of case. For example, a Company bringing a new product to market would require a market size analysis, competitor analysis, as well as understanding the key customer segments. An important note on this: historically, the vast majority of Consulting candidates have used specific business frameworks to answer cases.
