Bored, and then feeling guilty because boredom was their biggest problem, a group of teenagers decided they needed to do something good. So last month, students from Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando launched a free online tutoring service to help younger students with their schoolwork. Since then, Orlando Student Tutoring has lined up about 50 clients, all of them children doing assignments from home because the coronavirus pandemic has shuttered campuses. Their services, using Zoom, are open to any student who is interested. The service offers a respite to parents who find teaching on top of their own job responsibilities a struggle and gives the teenagers something to do since they can no longer go to school, play sports or take part in clubs and other activities. The conversation continued the next day but pivoted on ways to help.
