A thesis is a substantive and original body of work that allows the student to synthesize and integrate knowledge from their public health course work and practicum experiences, apply it to a particular topic area, and communicate their ideas and findings through a scholarly written product. Regardless of the format chosen, the student must apply critical thought, systematic analysis, and clear presentation. Each student is responsible for identifying a topic and appropriate format for their thesis with the assistance and guidance of faculty advisers and faculty thesis readers. The practicum product must be distinct from the thesis. Although the practicum and thesis can be related, the student must be able to articulate how the two projects are independent from one another. The practicum is a practice experience that allows students to apply and develop skills in public health concepts.

Effects of a sport nutrition education intervention on nutritional knowledge, dietary behaviors, and self-efficacy in NCAA Division I softball players. Optimal nutrition is vital in sport. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a sport nutrition education intervention SNEI on nutritional knowledge, dietary behaviors, nutritional self-efficacy, body composition, and performance in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I female softball players, and to measure retention and effects of this knowledge after the SNEI period. Seven participants were assessed using a Dietary Behaviors and Nutritional Knowledge questionnaire, Self-Efficacy questionnaire, BodPod measurement, exit velocity, and weekly intention surveys. The results support existing literature that collegiate athletes score relatively low on nutritional knowledge assessments, and nutrition education can increase nutritional knowledge and self-efficacy scores.

This study aimed to assess the impact of educational intervention, based on health belief model HBM and collaborative learning techniques on diet quality in adolescents. In this field trial study, students aged 13—15 years old were included, of which and allocated in the experimental and comparison groups, respectively. They were selected through a stratified random sampling from 16 urban, secondary schools in 4 educational districts of Shiraz, the largest city in southern Iran. The revised children diet quality index was used to assess their diet quality.

A diet high in fruit and vegetables is associated with the prevention of many chronic diseases; however, only one in ten Canadian students in grades 6 to 12 consume the recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables. Using smartphones to deliver nutrition interventions is an emerging area of research, although to-date these interventions typically limit their focus to weight loss. The overarching purpose of this research is to redevelop and evaluate an existing smartphone application for an adolescent population.
